Budget and DIY Weddings

DIY favors

I have seen several ideas but nothing stands out! I know there is basics like candy, matches, photos.  But I am looking for something out of the box.  Our theme is rustic shabby chic with love birds and hearts.  Was not what I originally thought but my fiance has been a huge help seeing how he isnt the planning do things on spare of the moment out of the box kind of guys!  So any suggestions or help would be great!!!! Budget friendly also!

<div>Hmm...some ideas right out of my head: flower seed packets, little potted plants (which I'm doing). Something that will reflect both of your interest. Like my fiance and I love gardening, that's why we are doing plants. </div>

  • Seriously, go with edible. No one cares about favors, you could even just skip it.

you could do birdsnest with jordan almonds in the center.

Would be cute to have different bird houses as centerpieces

I saw a photo of mini homemade jelly jars that I thought were very cute and outside of the box idea for DIY favors.

<div>I agree with this. If you get something personalinzed with your wedding info, it makes it hard for guests to reuse. We didnt do favors and no one seemed to miss it</div>

  • I agree that most favors end up in the junk drawer or lost in the land of missing socks.  However, one of my friends had stemless wine glasses as a favor, and I still use them all the time, even with them being personalized with her date.  If you could find something that people use like that, you could either paint, stamp or use etching cream with a nice little design.

Also, I like jars of homeade stuff.  My mom makes killer apple butter that I've always loved, so I thought about asking her to help me make lots of little jars of it.  Plus we could do it really early and store it until wedding time!

  • I think the only things I'd really like are things to do with wine (wine charms, wine glasses, wine), edible stuff or flower stuff, like seeds that I can plant in my garden or a little pot. If you/your guests like wine, you could totally do some love and birdie charms!
  • I looked at a few thousand ideas and posts on the internet on different message boards over a few nights,  edibles won, but potted plants had an honorable mention.

I'd be elated to get a potted plant.
  • It's a little bit of extra work but homemade vanilla extract could be a fun and different favor idea.
