I thought of this board the other day.

A friend of mine was briefly telling me about his brother's upcoming wedding. He's getting married in May, and apparently the chapel they're having the ceremony in holds 50 people. Their guest list? 250.

So I asked if they were only inviting family to the ceremony (which still makes me cringe). Nope. Apparently the couple said, "we'll figure it out the day-of". My thoughts: they won't need to. Because the "extra" people will just go home.

I love people.....

Re: I thought of this board the other day.

  • My cousin got married in a church that held about 60 people, but her reception list was about 250.     She was smart enough to only have family at the ceremony.

I didn't mind because this was her childhood church and had special meaning to them.

  • Wow, just wow.  Do they think that people love them so much that they are just going to stand around outside the church and peek in the windows to see the wedding?
  • I would definitely leave and probably not go to the reception. So rude.

  • Wow. I'm (almost) at a loss for words on that one. I can't even imagine how someone would think it's okay to treat guests like that. I would understand a bit more if it was a small, family-only wedding with a larger reception, but just to say they'll "figure it out"? I agree with PPs, I would not be staying.

    I can't even imagine. Geez....
  • Like if the church could only hold like 150 and they invited 160, that'd be bad, but not terrible. This is just plain rude. Facepalm.

  • How sweet.  I agree with other PP, I would more likely leave and end up not going to the reception, unless my FI or child was in the wedding.  But even with that I may end up waiting at the car for them.
  • Well, if you ever hear how that went, please give us an update.  It is good to have disasters like that on the board for newbs.  And evil old hags like me...
  • I feel sorry for the people that will be traveling or getting a babysitter for their kids. Making all those arrangements and then finding out that there's no room for them.
